The National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s solar irradiance calculator. Uses 30+ years of satellite data to estimate production for any point on Earth. The gold standard for residential solar estimation.
📊 EIA Electricity Rates
The Energy Information Administration publishes monthly residential electricity rates for every US state. We use the most recent data to calculate your dollar savings from solar production.
📍 40,977 Zip Codes
Our database covers every US zip code with precise latitude/longitude coordinates, enabling exact solar irradiance lookups. No approximation by state or city.
📜 IRS Tax Data
We apply the current 30% Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) per IRS Section 48, valid through 2032 under the Inflation Reduction Act.
Our Principles
Deterministic Math
Every number in our reports is calculated using physics formulas and official data — not AI predictions. Same inputs always produce the same outputs. You can verify every figure independently.
Privacy First
The free calculator requires no name, email, or phone number. All calculations happen locally in your browser. Paid reports require contact details for account creation and report delivery — we never sell personal data.
Zero Hallucination Policy
If we cannot verify a number, we do not display it. When the NREL API is unavailable, we clearly label estimates as “regional estimates.” We never use AI to generate financial projections.
US Coverage
We support all 50 US states and Washington D.C. with localized electricity rates and solar irradiance data. International coverage is on our roadmap.
